Inmate Sent To Hospital After Fight Inside Morgan County Jail Over Weekend

An inmate was sent to the hospital after a fight inside the Morgan County Jail Sunday night.

Morgan County Sheriff's Office reported that Coty Wilder was injured in a fight that broke out between two inmates sometime Sunday night inside the Morgan County Jail.

Wilder was taken to UT Medical Center and said he was attacked while sleeping. Wilder said he is suffering from a black eye, and doctors are monitoring possible bleeding in the brain.

Wilder claims the guards allowed the fight to happen because they knew both Wilder and the other inmate had problems between them.

Morgan County Sheriff Glen Freytag denied that any corrections officers allowed the fight to happen.

The incident is under investigation and that charges are pending against the inmate suspected of beating Wilder.

According to the Morgan County Jail, Wilder was originally brought to jail on a violation of probation charge, failure to appear and driving on a revoked license. The jail also said Wilder, while in the hospital, was released from the jail with a court date.
