KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Recent works by Gordon Fowler and Eric Gebhardt will be on display Dec. 1-31 at the Art Market Gallery. An opening reception will be held Friday, Dec. 1.

Gordon Fowler makes bowls, platters, and hollow forms from wood using a woodturning lathe. He finds the wood on roadsides or friends. Most of his work is twice-turned, meaning he cuts the logs with a chainsaw, rough turns it, dries it for six months and then turns it again to its final thickness. He is inspired by the symbolism and symmetry of his work.

Owned and operated by more than 60 professional regional artists, the Art Market Gallery, at 422 South Gay St., is a few doors away from Mast General Store and next to Downtown Grill & Brewery. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The gallery is wheelchair accessible, and parking in the abutting garage and on the street is free on weekends and after 6 p.m. weekdays.
