KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Farragut High School and Bearden High School dance teams captured national championship titles during the weekend at the UDA Dance Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

It was the first ever title for the Farragut dance team. The team of 13 girls beat out more than 80 teams from around the country to win the small varsity jazz division. FHS almost claimed two national titles, finishing second in the pom division to Seton High School out of Ohio.

The Bearden High School dance team came home with a national title in the large varsity pom category. Bearden also took fourth in the nation in large varsity jazz.

The Farragut girls came close to a title in 2017, placing in the top five nationally in both pom and jazz. ESPN's cameras were rolling when the announcement was made that Los Alomitos out of California, the defending national champion in the jazz category, finished second, meaning that Farragut was the national champion.
