Body in bag washes up on Douglas Lake

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said they are investigating a possible homicide after a body was found in a "suspicious bag" on the lakeshore near Lake Ridge Drive in Dandridge on Sunday.

Deputies arrived on the scene after a complaint about the suspicious bag by a civilian.

The body was taken to the Forensic Center in Knoxville for further examination. The sheriff said investigators were out on the lake today with their boat looking for more evidence.

Investigators from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Attorney General's office are working on the case.
