Doctors in Congress Say It's Time to Resume Working in Person

Press Release # State
Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, members of the GOP Doctors Caucus released the following statement after writing Speaker Pelosi urging the House of Representatives to reconvene for in-person legislative business:

“As doctors, we fully appreciate the seriousness of the current crisis and the need to protect public health. But we also understand as legislators we are essential workers. Based on our experience as medical providers, we should be able to do legislative business at the Capitol while keeping ourselves, our staff, and the workers who help the Capitol run appropriately protected from the virus. For more than 200 years the House of Representatives has found a way to fulfill its constitutional duty - through pandemics, world wars, terrorist attacks, and other catastrophes. We now have the resources available to safely resume committee meetings, in-person debate and voting. That’s why we are urging Speaker Pelosi to resume in-person legislative business as soon as possible.”
