The Gatlinburg SkyLift Park loves adding new experiences for visitors to enjoy, and this fall the attraction is welcoming a brand new addition: the Gatlinburg SkyTrail. This scenic walkway will give everyone more opportunities to take in the breathtaking views of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains and opens Oct. 10!

About the Gatlinburg SkyTrail

The Gatlinburg SkyTrail provides a unique Smoky Mountain experience! The SkyTrail is a scenic walkway connecting both sides of the Gatlinburg SkyBridge as it follows the slope of Crockett Mountain. It will be located behind the SkyBridge! From the SkyTrail, visitors will be able to take in the length and height of the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, as well as stunning views of the Smokies! The east side of the trail is a wooden boardwalk, and the west side is a paved pathway. The SkyTrail will be accessible to everyone, and both kids and adults will love it! It’s even dog friendly!

When Will the Gatlinburg SkyTrail Open?

The Gatlinburg SkyTrail will open to the public in fall of 2020. The grand opening will be held Oct. 10 and 11! As part of the celebration, the SkyLift Park will host highline team performances from Rucksack Circus. Performers will walk a 75-yard line suspended 150 feet in the air! The line will be rigged with lower tension, which can cause the line to swing and bounce. Guests will also be invited to try line-walking on a much shorter line on the SkyDeck. Later in the fall season, the SkyTrail will be expanded to include covered rest areas that feature interpretive signage. The signs will teach visitors more about the SkyBridge and the SkyLift!

Gatlinburg SkyLift Park Updates

The Gatlinburg SkyTrail is just one of the many updates the Gatlinburg SkyLift Park has received in the past few years! On Aug. 19, the Gatlinburg SkyBridge got 3 new glass panels, for a total of 6 glass panels at the bridge’s midpoint. The attraction plans to add even more new experiences for guests in the future! Take a look at what you can already enjoy at the SkyLift Park:

The SkyBridge opened to the public in May of 2019, and since then has provided a thrilling experience for visitors! The bridge stretches 680 feet across a deep valley, making it the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America! The SkyBridge offers panoramic views of the Smoky Mountains and allows you to take in the views directly below you from the glass panels at its midpoint.

Gatlinburg SkyDeck & SkyCenter

After you take the Gatlinburg SkyLift to the top of Crockett Mountain, you’ll hop off onto the SkyDeck. This spot features a viewing deck, outdoor seating areas and the SkyCenter. The SkyCenter has a gift shop on the first floor, plus a snack bar with pizza, salads, ice cream treats and more! On the second floor, you’ll find a large seating area and a bar that offers gorgeous views of the city and the mountains. You can sit inside or on the front deck overlooking Gatlinburg.

Of course we can’t mention the SkyLift Park without mentioning the attraction that started it all: the Gatlinburg SkyLift. The SkyLift originally opened in 1954, and since then has upgraded and evolved into one of the most popular attractions in Gatlinburg. The 3-seat chairlift that you ride today was built in 2017! The chairlift takes visitors up 500 feet, offering breathtaking views along the way. Once you get to the top, you can enjoy all the mountaintop fun!
