KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The mayor of Knox County, Glenn Jacobs, used internet savvy to connect with constituents on Wednesday afternoon.

Jacobs hosted an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit, a popular social media network service where many popular figures go to interact with the public and answer questions.

The mayor received hundreds of questions, some relating to things like the ongoing shutdown and some relating to subjects closer to home, such as ORNL and the opioid crisis.

One redditor asked,

"Opioids seem to be effecting a lot of families in East TN. What sort of ideas do you have to tackle that?"

"We've already held a summit to talk about the issue...we will be unveiling some new initiatives soon."

Another got into national politics asking,

"What do you think of the current state of the Republican Party?"
Jacobs replied,
"I think both parties are terrible at the national level."

Jacobs also said he was

"not for net neutrality."
"I think we need to figure out ways to make internet and telecom services more competitive and eliminate local government-back monopolies,"
he continued.

It wasn't always serious, though. Jacobs had some fun with the questions.

"I just graduated with an English degree and am a bit aimless when it comes to potential career paths. Any suggests?"
asked one redditor.

"Well, professional wrestling worked out for me...,"
the mayor replied.
