The Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a hike of Smokemont Loop in Smokemont Campground on Monday, October 21.
This guided hike is FREE and limited to ten participants. Participants must be at least 18-years old and provide their own transportation to a meeting location. Meeting time and location will be provided after registration.
This loop hike offers a quiet trail from pine wood to a hardwood forest of poplar, hickory, and oak, with creek views, the old Bradley Cemetery, and the old Luftee, aka Smokemont Baptist Church. It is a moderately difficult 6.5-mile loop hike. See the following link for more details: smokemont-loop/.
After the hike, we will travel three miles to the Oconaluftee Visitor’s Center to view the elk.
Registration is available online at Registration . The registration deadline is Friday, October 18, at 5:00 p.m. After registration is full, a waiting list will be started. Liability release and medical forms are available online and must be returned to the Community Center front desk by October 18 at 5:00 p.m.
