ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL)- - State Representative John Holsclaw of Elizabethton told News Channel 11 he plans to continue his push to pass a hands-free bill in Tennessee this year.

WJHL has spoken to Rep.Holsclaw for a few years now as he's worked to make the bill happen.

He said the bill passed the house last year and got killed in the Senate.

The goal of the bill is to have drivers across the state of Tennessee drive with a hands-free device if they choose to talk on a phone.

Drivers would be allowed to use a mounting device or Bluetooth.

Holsclaw said he's continued to push this bill for years because he feels it will make the roads safer for drivers across the state of Tennessee.

This year Virginia lawmakers are also working on a similar push to only allow hands-free devices behind the wheel.
