Thousands of students home as sickness closes area schools

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Illness has swept across East Tennessee, affecting many schools, including those in Knox County.

According to a release from the Knox County School System, the schools will be closed for the rest of the week due to illness.

"Due to an increasing number of students, staff, and substitutes who are affected by illness"

the school system will be closed, the Knox County Schools' website states.

School will resume again on Feb. 11.
