KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Department of Transportation said Thursday that, weather permitting, the weekend of April 13-15 would be the last for crews to work on weekend bridge repairs on I-40 in West Knoxville.

However, the WVLT Weather Team has predicted a high chance for storms on Sunday, so WVLT will keep you updated on a chance for delayed work.

TDOT said crews would be working on the three outside travel lanes at the West Hills interchange, and the work was planned to affect both directions. Spokesperson Mark Nagi said lane closures would start on Friday, April 13, at 8 p.m. and last until completion of the repair, or not later than 6 a.m. on Monday morning, April 16.

Nagi said two lanes would remain open at all times during the work, near Mile Markers 380 and 381 (I-40 bridges over Montvue Road and Buckingham Drive).

TDOT said drivers should expect the potential for long delays and seek alternative routes.

Though bridge repair work may be in its final stages, resurfacing activities have been scheduled to continue across the interstate in various locations. TDOT said resurfacing work would take place Sunday through Thursday overnights through the first week of May. That resurfacing work could include lane closures, as well as closures of entry and exit ramps to the interstate.
