Widespread flooding reported in Greene, Hawkins counties

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) - Rainy weather is causing problems across East Tennessee.

A spokesperson with the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office said that they have received three reports of flooding in the community.

Areas of Spruce Pine Road and Kenny Creek Roads are two of the areas completely submerged, according to police.

The weather has also caused issued with phone lines across the county. Dispatch phone lines are currently down due to the weather, according to the sheriff's office.

A woman was rescued by Hawkins County Rescue Squad on Blevins Road near Surgoinsville after her pickup truck became stuck.

Flooding has also caused schools to close today. The Hawkins County Schools System website announced the closure earlier today.

According to Greene County Dispatch, the entire county is experiencing widespread flooding and was under a flood warning until 8:30 a.m.
