Lowe’s Commits $25 Million to Help Communities Impacted by Coronavirus Pandemic

Press Release # State

‘We’re in this together:’ Product and funds will support healthcare workers, small business owners and communities across the U.S and Canada

Today, Lowe’s committed to helping community members hit hardest by COVID-19 through a $25 million philanthropic investment of product, funds and collaboration to meet the needs of associates and customers now and as the pandemic continues.

Working similarly to how Lowe’s responds during natural disasters, the company’s philanthropic commitment includes:

  • $10 million

in product that will be donated to medical professionals on the frontlines. Lowe’s is currently delivering essential items, such as respirators and other protective gear, to hospitals nationwide by working with national healthcare supply distributors to allocate product where it’s needed most.

  • Nearly $4.5 million

for Lowe’s stores in the U.S. and Canada, which are empowered to donate products in their communities to serve short and long-term needs.

  • $3 million

to support associates, including through the Lowe’s Employee Relief Fund, which helps Lowe’s associates in times of disaster and crisis.

  • $3 million

to help support local small businesses, particularly skilled trades professionals, continue to operate.

  • $1.5 million

to support the COVID-19 Response Fund and other nonprofit organizations in Lowe’s hometown, the Greater Charlotte, N.C. region.

  • $500,000

to the American Red Cross, whose long standing mission is to alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. This donation will support the operations of the Red Cross to maintain a sufficient supply of blood to help patients in need and ensure that the Red Cross is able to fulfill its promise of helping people prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters big and small. The organization faces a blood shortage as blood drives are canceled, and it needs additional donors now more than ever. Visit www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment to give blood.

Additional dollars will be used for emerging needs, and developments will be shared at a later date.
