KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- On Saturday night, Knoxville police responded to 206 Gayview Drive after receiving several calls that an argument was occurring at an apartment.

Upon arrival at around 10:38 p.m., officers approached the residence and a male slammed the apartment door shut. Through a window, officers observed a male lying on the floor not moving.

They entered the apartment and discovered that the male was deceased. Officers discovered another male, Joshua Dozier, armed with a gun inside the apartment, and was immediately detained.

Officers found that the suspect, Dozier, was angry when he went to his father's residence on Gayview Drive to confront him. The father, Douglas Dozier, was killed in the fight, and KPD reports that Douglas Dozier worked for the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

According to the preliminary autopsy report, the father died as a result of strangulation.

Dozier has been charged with one count of first degree murder and is being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention facility on a one million dollar bond.
