KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Put down those melons!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says Tennessee has been added to the growing list of states where pre-cut melon may be contaminated with salmonella.

The CDC is recalling cut watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe, as well as those found in fruit salads.

The fruits have been recalled from grocery stores throughout the nation including Walmart, Walgreens, Sprouts Farmers Market, Costco, Sprouts and Whole Foods.

In Tennessee, the contaminated melon was sold in Sprouts Farmers Market stores in Middle Tennessee.

In addition, the agency has advised retailers not to serve or sell pre-cut melon products distributed by Caito Foods Distribution, Gordon Food Service or SpartanNash Distribution.

According to the CDC, 60 people became ill in the outbreak from April 30 to May 28, CNN reported.

The recalled products were also distributed in Alabama, California, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.
