NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction is now accepting applications for our Middle Tennessee Citizens’ Correctional Academy. The academy is a five-week program designed to give Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency. Classes will be held April 7-May 5, 2020, at various TDOC locations.

Citizens’ Academy has been a successful program that was started in 2014 in the Middle Tennessee area. Since implementation TDOC has had nine classes designed to give citizens an in-depth look at the Department of Correction’s operations and its role in advancing public safety. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about TDOC functions and programming from executive leadership, ask questions, tour two facilities and visit a field office in order to gain a better understanding of the agency and the work of its more than 6, 000 dedicated employees.
